Garmisch
Air paintings on the facades tell interesting stories about the historical Garmisch and revive the past. You will pass Werdenfelser farmhouses with splendidly decorated balconies. At the Gasthaus Husar you can see the beautiful Biedermeier frescoes. You should go to the Old Church, built in the 13th century in the Romanesque-Gothic style. Next to the Polznkasperhaus, which is the oldest house in the village, there are numerous cafés that invite you to linger with a delicious cake. Afterwards you can have a look at the impressive baroque church St. Martin.
Partenkirchen
If you follow in the footsteps of the fresco painter Heinrich Bickel, you will feel like in the past. He painted the Gasthof Fraundorfer with a wonderful farm wedding. In the Werdenfelser Heimatmuseum you can inform yourself about the history of the Werdenfelser Land. Fortunately, the merchant's house was spared the fire of 1865. At the southern end of Ludwigstraße you will find the Alte Haus. Isolated parts still date from the time of Barbarossa. Then you come to the Gasthof Fraundorfer. In this typical Bavarian inn you can eat delicious Bavarian delicacies and experience the Bavarian cosiness. At the house Simon, which is guarded by the archangel Gabriel with fire sword and lily, you go past and come afterwards to the inn to the Russian, the parish church, the well at the church place and further up to the Sebastianskirche with the former Pestfriedhof.
