Cycling in between apple blossoms and vineyards

With its manifold landscapes, Italy provides plenty of tracks for cyclists and mountain bikers of all levels. For sporty cyclists, South Tyrol and Trentino are the best places to go. Here, challenging trails go along the Dolomite passes. Tours along the southern foothills of the Alps are somewhat more moderate, for example at Monte Baldo or Lake Garda. The picturesque cities and forested hilly countrysides in the country's Umbrian inland can be very well explored by bike, too.

The Italian summers are usually very hot, so it is best to choose a month in spring or autumn for an extensive cycle or mountain bike tour, as temperatures will be milder. Also the countryside around these times presents itself from its most beautiful side: In spring, you cycle along apple blossoms and vineyards, in autumn you witness the harvest and can enjoy fresh produce during your breaks.
