Route description
The hike from Gaflei to Planken is a classic mountain hike which for you need confidence and you should be free from giddiness.
The tour starts in Gaflei. From there hike via steep track Fürstensteig to saddle Gafleisattel. Exposed parts are secured with balustrades and steel wire ropes. To the north you will already see the mountains Drei-Schwestern. On a ridge path you will get to steep track Drei-Schwestern-Steig and further to steep track Kuegrat (2123m/6965ft). That is the highest point of the tour. An amazing view across mountain Rätikon and the swiss mountains will disclose.
Now start descending via saddle Sarojasattel, passed hut Gafadura, where you are welcome to stop for some food and rest, and finally to Planken.
The tour can be easily walked the other way round, which is especially recommended for people who find it harder to walk downhill. Besides the two steep tracks can be evaded. Fürstensteig can be evaded by taking Bärgällasattel instead and Drei-Schwestern-Steig by taking Garsella Alpe/Garsella Eck.

- From Gaflei via Fürstensteig and Drei-Schwestern-Steig to Planken is the the best rated hike in Liechtenstein.
- You're facing an uphill climb of 847 vertical meters on this hike. The hike takes you to an elevation of 2,052 m.
- You shouldn’t forget to bring your hiking boots. There are some sections on the trail where sturdy footwear is required. If you get hungry along the way, there are places to rest and get food. Nevertheless it’s recommended to also have enough water and food in your backpack when hiking or biking.

Getting here
By car:
Coming from Switzerland: A13, exit Sevelen towards Vaduz, turn onto Zollstraße, drive towards Triesenberg/Gaflei
Coming from Austria: A14, exit Feldkirch towards Nendeln and Vaduz
Parking: available in Gaflei
By public transport:
Alternatively take bus 21 from Vaduz and change in Triesenberg Post to bus 22. For the departure from Planken take the bus at bus stop hotel Saroja.
