Route description
The hike starts and ends in Sinswang, at the junction to Sinswanger Stuben. Start walking north to leave the town. Hike all the way to Oberstaufen. Through the forest, follow the signs of Premiumweg downhill, then walk along a forest road to get back to Sinswang. The hike is only groomed when snow conditions allow, and is otherwise inaccessible.
Where to eat
You can eat at Sinswanger Stuben before or after your tour. On the hike, you can leave the trail and walk to Berg, where you find further options. The detour is about one kilometre.
Interesting facts
- You're traveling a distance of 6 km on this moderate trail. The hike is therefore not too long. Average length of all hikes in Bavaria is 43 km.
- You're facing an uphill climb of 9 vertical meters on this hike. The track is therefore relatively flat. The hike takes you to an elevation of 939 m.
- The hike is one of the family friendly trails in the region. The hike is also perfect if the kid’s wanna bring their dog on the trip. (See all dog friendly hikes in Bavaria.)
- You shouldn’t forget to bring your hiking boots. There are some sections on the trail where sturdy footwear is required. If you get hungry along the way, there are places to rest and get food. Nevertheless it’s recommended to also have enough water and food in your backpack when hiking or biking.

Equipment
Sturdy shoes are recommended, but hiking boots are not absolutely necessary. Unless you plan to walk to Berg, you should bring provisions.
Getting here
By car
From the north, follow motorway A7 to Allgäuer Kreuz, where you change onto A980 towards Lindau. Leave the motorway at exit Waltenhofen, where you follow B19 towards Immenstadt. From there, follow the signs pointing to Oberstaufen/Lindau on B308.
Coming from Munich/Memmingen, follow motorway A96 to exit Wangen im Allgäu. Change onto B32. At the next bigger junction, turn right towards Lindau, but turn left onto B32 shortly after. Continue until you can turn onto B308 towards Oberstaufen. Keep on this road to get to Oberstaufen.
From Lindau, follow B308 to Oberstaufen.
From Switzerland or Austria, you should look out for motorway A96 towards Lindau. At exit Lindau, change onto B308 to Oberstaufen.
Once you have made it to Oberstaufen, turn into the town and drive towards Staufenpark. Turn right into Rothenfelsstraße at the sports shop. The road becomes Lindauer Straße, on which you stay until you can see the pharmacy at the spa park. There is a junction into Argenstraße there. After leaving Oberstaufen, a junction to the left leads to Sinswang. You will be able to see the base station of Sinswang's ski lifts soon. In front of the lifts, turn to get to Sinswanger Stuben.
Public transportation
Oberstaufen railway station is well connected to bigger train stations. For instance, take the train going from Munich/Ulm via Kempten to Lindau. From Lindau, there are regular connections to Oberstaufen.
From Oberstaufen, bus line 9796 goes to Sinswang. You exit near the base station of the ski lifts. Just before the lifts, turn left and walk to Sinswanger Stuben, where the hike begins.
