Beach

Sellin Beach is located below the cliffs on the eastern coast of Rügen and offers fine sand, sweeping views of the Baltic Sea, and a true holiday atmosphere between the historic pier and the South Beach.
The Beach Sections of Sellin
The fine sandy beach is divided into two sections: the lively main beach at the pier and the somewhat quieter South Beach. The Sellin Pier is the town’s landmark. At 394 meters long, it extends impressively into the Baltic Sea, making it the longest pier on the island of Rügen.

The main beach is accessible via Wilhelmstraße and the pier, or alternatively by a steep staircase with around 80 steps. It stretches about one kilometer in length and approximately 60 meters in width – ideal for those seeking relaxation in a classic seaside resort atmosphere. Set against the impressive backdrop of the historic pier, you'll find beach chairs, snack bars, public restrooms, and a designated dog beach area.
The South Beach is just a few minutes’ walk away. With a length of around two kilometers and an open bay, it offers plenty of space – especially for families with children. FKK (nude) bathing enthusiasts will also find designated areas here. The fine sandy beach slopes gently into the water, and the surrounding landscape offers wide views of the cliffs and the neighboring Baltic resorts of Baabe and Göhren.
Accessibility at the Beach
The pier is wheelchair accessible. Additionally, all-terrain wheelchairs are available at the beach for guests with limited mobility.
Things to do
Whether it's sunrise yoga, beach volleyball, stand-up paddling, or simply a walk along the shoreline – at Sellin’s beaches, staying active is highly encouraged. The main beach offers a seasonal sports and entertainment program, along with small events and children's festivals at the pier.
The South Beach continues the sporty vibe: here you'll find regular activities, surf and paddleboarding courses, and a sound pavilion featuring music, workshops, and culinary offerings. For those who prefer even more action, the well-developed network of coastal paths is perfect for jogging or cycling tours.
