Description
The 16th Street Mall in Denver, Colorado is a mile-long pedestrian mall, which runs along 16th Street in downtown Denver. The Mall opened in 1982 and is home to more than 300 stores and over 50 restaurants, pubs, and cafés, thus it is full of shopping and places to hang out and eat, or just to grab a bite on the go.
DenverPavilions
DenverPavilions are also located at 16th Street. This shopping and dining complex with 12 movie theaters and more than two dozen stores and restaurants is another must-visit for every tourist and it is favorite place among all out-of-towners, who already know Denver inside out and are into strolling around.
Shuttles, Carriages & Pedicabs
Visitors are free to make use of the free shuttle bus service, the so-called MallRide, which travels up and down 16th Street Mall. The shuttles come and go every few minutes, so visitors can make their way easily down 16th Street. They hop on and off the bus just about wherever they want, as the shuttle stops at every corner. After sunset, horse-drawn carriages and pedicabs carry its guests up and down the street. Meanwhile, thousands of lights twinkle above in over 200 trees which line the promenade.
How to get there
It is quite easy to get to 16th Street Mall, as it runs through the heart of downtown Denver and thus it is comfortable to reach by public transport. In case you make your way from the airport to the pedestrian promenade, there is also a train that takes only 37 minutes to get to Union Station, which is located only one block from the Mall.
