Description
The Main Tower is the fourth-tallest skyscraper in Germany and offers an observation platform from which you can enjoy a unique view of Frankfurt and its skyline.
At approximately 200 meters above ground, the panoramic platform provides a 360-degree view of the city skyline, the Main River, and the surrounding area. The 56 floors up to the platform can be comfortably reached by elevator. Once at the top, you can get an overview of the various neighbourhoods. The view includes the tallest skyscraper in Germany, the 259-meter-high Commerzbank Tower, as well as the Taunis Tower, the Messeturm, the ECB Tower, the Trianon, and even St. Bartholomew's Cathedral (Kaiserdom).
During your visit to the Main Tower, in addition to the observation platform, you can also explore the Helaba Art Collection of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen. Behind an eight-meter-high glass facade on the 53rd floor at 187 meters above ground, there is a restaurant and lounge where you can not only enjoy culinary delights but also the spectacular view over the city. Moreover, the Main Tower also houses a fitness studio and office spaces.
To avoid long waiting times during your visit, it is advisable to go to the tower in the morning. Additionally, please consider the security checks at the entrance and refrain from bringing any dangerous items.
Due to the central location of the Main Tower, other attractions such as the Jewish Museum, Palmengarten (Botanical Garden), St. Bartholomew's Cathedral, Städel Museum, and Frankfurt Zoo are nearby.
Historical Information
The Main Tower was designed by architects Schweger and Partner. A special feature is its geometric shapes: the floor plan is both circular and square. In addition to the cylindrical part of the Main Tower, there is also a square section with a height of 177 meters.
In 1999, Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) occupied a large portion of the office space. The construction costs were estimated to be around 350 million euros. The skyscraper has 2,550 windows, 1,090 stairs, and 26 elevators for people, providing a total of 63,500 square meters of office space.
