The Frankfurt Airport is not only one of Europe's largest transport hubs but also a place full of exciting discoveries. At the Fraport Visitor Center, guests can dive in the world of aviation. Interactive attractions provide unique perspectives on the airport. Technology enthusiasts will also be impressed: telescopes, stunning light installations, and a detailed airport model offer fascinating insights. For those who want to experience the action live, guided tours are available, or visitors can watch planes take off and land from designated observation points.
Interactive Experiences for All Ages
The Fraport Visitor Center offers a variety of attractions. The Apron Control exhibit allows visitors to become virtual air traffic controllers, directing aircraft from the runway to the gate and back. The telescope offers a view back into the past while also providing insights into topics such as sustainability, global trade, and economic impact through virtual elements. The Fire Brigade exhibit lets visitors step into the role of an airport firefighter. Meanwhile, the Motion Ride, using VR goggles and motion-synchronized seats, takes guests on a thrilling ride from the perspective of a piece of checked luggage. A special children's area completes the interactive experience.
The nearly 325-meter-long light routes span two floors, illustrating the flight paths at Frankfurt Airport with moving lights representing aircraft taking off and landing. The 25-square-meter screen "The Globe" displays live global air traffic. The 55-square-meter Airport City model provides a scaled-down version of the entire airport. Through 360° visualizations, videos, photos, and texts, visitors can explore parts of the airport typically hidden from view. Tablets with tasks and mini-games allow younger guests to learn about airport operations in a playful way.
Up Close at Frankfurt Airport
For an even more immersive experience, visitors can book one of the airport tours. The Starter Tour lasts 45 minutes and provides a quick and engaging introduction, offering close-up views of refueling, takeoffs, landings, and aircraft liveries. The Combined Tour includes both the Starter Tour and entry to the Visitor Center. The XXL Tour is the longest, lasting 120 minutes for an in-depth airport experience. The Fire Department Tour gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of Fire Station 3.
