Description
Magical wintertime at Schloss Tüßling
Just a stone’s throw from Altötting, Schloss Tüßling palace opens its doors to visitors every Advent. With light pyramids, hundreds of candles and dozens of torches dotted around the parkland as well as a huge Advent wreath by the fountain, the venue oozes festive splendour. The soundtrack to this cosy atmosphere is provided by various groups playing traditional Christmas music. Time-honoured wooden stands populate the castle courtyard, the historical cowshed, “Kornboden”, gatehouse and former coach house, making this the ideal place to soak up the pre-Christmas atmosphere. More than 120 artists, craftsmen and exhibitors present selected wares here. From a culinary point of view, visitors to the Christmas market can look forward to a whole host of delicious Bavarian festive foods. These are served in Café Stephanie by the horse pond as well as at many stands in the outdoor area.
Atmospheric Advent
One unique highlight of the market is the hot air balloon show (only in fair weather), while the daily fire show is also well worth watching. After darkness falls, visitors can even take part in a torch-light procession. Youngsters will love the “star workshop”, puppet theatre, archery and nostalgic carousel.
Kistlers Puppenspiel – Medieval theatre
Kistlers Puppenspiel has been a favourite for visitors to Schloss Tüßling with its medieval theatre shows. Visitors can follow the adventures of little Aneike against beautiful backdrops, with hand-made puppets and numerous effects in this lovingly designed puppet play. The performances take around 30 minutes and are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 1 pm, 2.30 pm and 3:30 pm. The theatre is housed in the barn in the castle courtyard. The audience can snuggle up in warm blankets while they watch the show.
