Route description
Starting in Riedenburg, at St. Anna bridge, you walk along the river promenade, then leave town continuing along the channel. You will soon be able to see Prunn Palace. You are moving through a natural reserve, which features steep ascents as well as a pretty gorge. After a while, oyu get to Einthal, where you finally get to Prunn Palace, one of the most beautiful sights in the region. Hike back downhill through the forest, past Felsenhäusl Museum. Finally, you reach the end of the hike in Essing.
Interesting facts
- You're traveling a distance of 10 km on this moderate trail. The hike is therefore not too long. The average length of all hikes in Bavaria is 43 km.
- Sturdy hiking boots are recommended on this track. There are places to buy beverages and food along the track. However it’s always recommended to bring enough water and food along with you.
Getting here
By car
From motorway A9, take the exit towards Altmühltal or Denkendorf. From A3, exit at Parsberg, and from A93 you take exit Abensberg. The federal roads B16, B8, or B299 are also connected to Riedenburg.
Public transportation
You can get buses and trains to Riedenburg from the surrounding cities. For example, get a train to Saal an der Donau or Ingolstadt, and then a bus to your starting point.
By boat
You can also travel to Riedenburg by boat on the channel.
