Route description
The circular path starts at the open-air thermal spa Bad Bodendorf. Ahrensteig byroad gets you past the spa park and to the edge of the forest. From here, either follow the signs for Ahrsteig trail straight into the forest, or go left via Burggrafenstraße, before turning right into the forest, which makes for an easier ascent. After the ascent, you get to the main path of Ahrsteig. Follow it to the left onto Hellenberg mountain. In good weather, you should definitely go to Feltenturm tower, which boasts a beautiful view over the Rhine valley, Ahr valley, Hellenbach valley, Harbach valley, and the city of Sinzing. Walk back and turn left onto path number 4, which gets you to the forest pub Zum Ähnchen. You now get back to Ahrsteing, and walk along the panoramic trail. Follow path 4 again, and take the Ahrsteig byroad back to where you started.
After the tour, you can relax in the healing waters of the thermal pool, or visit the historic centre of Bad Bodendorf.
Where to eat
You can get a bite to eat at the forest pub Zum Ähnchen (Monday, Tuesday, Friday closing days), or at Winzerhäuschen.
