Description
The Erdmann's cave Hasel is one of the oldest and most fascinating dripstone caves in Germany. The cave has a total length of 2,185 metres, the show section is 360 metres long. Here you can marvel at giant stalactites, the largest of which, at over four metres high and two metres thick, is even immortalised in the Guinnes Book of Records. The age of the stalactite colossus is estimated at about 135,000 years.
According to legends, earth gnomes (Erdmännchen and Erdweibchen in German) used to live here. The great folk poet Johann Peter Hebel also included this in his works. This is how the Erdmann's cave got its present name.
The cave is open daily from the end of March to the beginning of November. Guided tours always take place on the hour. Concerts are also held in the Erdmannshöhle several times a year. The sound experience among the stalactites is something very special.
