Historical Information

The AdlerBühne Ahorn was founded in 2009 by passionate falconers Didi and Waltraud Wechselberger. With their extensive experience and deep connection to the local wildlife, they established Europe's highest bird of prey station at 2,000 meters on the Ahorn Plateau in Mayrhofen. Since then, the AdlerBühne has captivated thousands of visitors annually with impressive flight demonstrations while educating them about the lifestyle and conservation of birds of prey.
The AdlerBühne is part of "Mountopolis", the adventure world of the Mayrhofen Mountain Railways. In addition to the daily demonstrations, exclusive backstage tours are also offered, where visitors can go behind the scenes to learn more about the falconers' work and the lives of the animals.
How to get there

The AdlerBühne Ahorn is located above Mayrhofen in the Zillertal and is accessible exclusively via the Ahornbahn, which takes visitors to the Ahorn Plateau at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters. The valley station of the Ahornbahn is located on the outskirts of Mayrhofen and is easily accessible by both car and public transport.
By car, you can reach Mayrhofen via the Zillertaler Straße (B169). At the MPREIS supermarket, turn right onto Rauchenwaldstraße and follow it for about 450 meters before turning left onto Tuxer Straße. The Ahornbahn parking lot is well signposted from there.
For those arriving by public transport, take the Zillertalbahn to the Mayrhofen train station. From there, it’s just a short walk to the valley station of the Ahornbahn, or alternatively, a quick ride on the local bus.
