Description

Two ways to race down the mountain
Right in the heart of the Bavarian Forest, Freizeitland St. Englmar is home to two 1,000-metre alpine rides, each offering a completely different experience. The Bayerwald-Bob is a classic summer toboggan run, while the Bayerwald-Coaster is a rail-guided alpine coaster that operates even in wet weather. Which one is the better choice? That depends on how adventurous you're feeling.
Bayerwald-Bob – The classic summer toboggan run
The Bayerwald-Bob has been welcoming riders since 1998. After a comfortable lift ride to the top, you'll speed downhill through sweeping bends, jumps, steep turns and signature double S-curves that add plenty of excitement to the descent.
The track, built by Wiegand, covers a 60-metre vertical drop, with speeds of up to 40 km/h. As a traditional summer toboggan run, it operates in dry weather only. Children aged 3 and over are welcome to ride, while those under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Each sled has a maximum weight limit of 170 kg, and an on-ride photo captures your descent.
Bayerwald-Coaster – All-weather thrills
Introduced in 2008, the Bayerwald-Coaster takes the experience to the next level. The highlight of the 1,000-metre track is a spectacular 360-degree spiral suspended six metres above the ground, complemented by steep bends and plenty of jumps.
Its biggest advantage is that it operates regardless of the weather. Thanks to its rail-guided all-weather system and protective covers, the coaster can run in both sunshine and rain, unlike the traditional summer toboggan run. It also reaches speeds of around 40 km/h and descends 60 vertical metres. The same age and weight restrictions apply: children from 3 years of age may ride, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult, and each sled may carry a maximum of 170 kg.
Historical Information

From a single track to a full adventure park
The story began in 1998 with the opening of the Bayerwald-Bob, built by Wiegand as the area's first summer toboggan run. A decade later, the Bayerwald-Coaster was added, introducing a rail-guided ride that could operate even in rainy weather.
Over the years, the site has grown into the Freizeitland St. Englmar adventure park, offering a wide variety of attractions. Admission to the park itself is free, with visitors only paying for the activities they choose to enjoy. The attraction continues to expand, with a new themed area, "Sepp's Traditional Farm", currently under development.
