Roaring lions, majestic giraffes and funny sea lions - you can marvel at over 600 animals from five continents in the zoological garden of Pont-Scorff. Around 120 species populate the twelve-hectare site near Lorient, making it a small tropical paradise. Immerse yourself in the world of hippos, panthers, wolves and lemurs and learn all kinds of new things about these animals.

Pont-Scorff Zoo is very committed to the rescue and breeding of endangered species and participates in various species protection programs, which you can find out about on site.

Animal entertainment

The zoological garden is known for its entertaining and educational animal shows. You can learn about the amazing characteristics of seabirds and birds of prey or be mesmerized by the skills and funny antics of the Patagonian sea lions. And the parrots and penguins also reveal amazing abilities.

Useful information

You should plan around five hours for your visit to the zoo. It is advisable to start your tour first thing in the morning, as this is when the animals are most active. In between, there is a bar and a restaurant where you can enjoy a refreshing snack or lunch. In the souvenir store, you will discover small souvenirs such as stuffed animals or postcards and a small wagon can be hired for children at the entrance to the zoo (for a fee). Various events take place at the zoo throughout the year, such as the Night of the Animals.

The playground on the grounds provides fun and variety for younger visitors.

Historical Information

Les Terres de Nataé was originally founded in 1973 by Maguy and Pierre Thomas as the Pont-Scorff Zoo. The trained circus performer wanted to create a place where animals and species conservation took center stage. In 1987, however, the park was severely damaged by a devastating storm. Three years later (1990), it was extensively rebuilt. Over the years, the zoo grew steadily until it had to close in 2019 due to economic problems. After extensive renovation, it was reopened in 2022 under the new name “Les Terres de Nataé”.
