Description

The Perlan Museum is one of Iceland's most visited attractions and one of the landmarks of the capital Reykjavík. Here you have the opportunity to experience the island's numerous natural phenomena in one place.
The dome-shaped building currently houses various exhibition areas, a planetarium, a viewing platform with a 360-degree view of Reykjavík, a café, a souvenir shop, and a gourmet restaurant.
Glacier and Ice Cave Exhibition
The exhibition on Iceland's glaciers and ice caves is located in one of the building's six hot water tanks. It interactively illustrates the history and possible future development of the Vatnajökull glacier, the largest glacier in Iceland and Europe.
You also have the opportunity to walk through the world's only indoor ice cave. This gives you exciting insights into the world of ice, its secrets, and the enormous significance of global warming and glacier melt for Iceland. The temperature in the ice cave is around -10 degrees Celsius. You should therefore make sure you wear warm clothing, but you can also borrow a jacket on site.
Wonders of Iceland exhibition
Since May 2018, the Perlan Museum has been home to the “Wonders of Iceland” exhibition area. Here you can learn a lot about Iceland's geological features: volcanoes, tectonic plates, earthquakes, and geothermal energy. You can also take an augmented reality trip to Látrabjarg Cliff, home of the puffin.
In the virtual aquarium, you can discover Iceland's underwater world. You can watch whales and learn interesting facts and stories about the ocean through many interactive elements.
Perlan Planetarium
In Iceland's first and only planetarium, state-of-the-art technology allows you to discover the magic of Icelandic nature in a whole new way. The highlight is, of course, the Aurora Show, where you can see the Northern Lights like you've never seen them before.
