Route description
This circular trail on Zeugenberg mountain starts at the church in the village of Loderbach. Follow the signs of Zeugenbergrunde to help with orientation. Your first destination are the ruins of Wolfstein Castle, where you can take a break to visit the remainings of the building and enjoy the view. Continue to Hinterfuchsberg and Höhenberg. The next leg of the hike takes you to Buchberg. Finally, you hike over the Zeugenberge mountains, and back to Loderbach.
Interesting facts
- With an overall length of 49 km the hike is among the 5 longest hikes in Bavaria available on TouriSpo.
- Make sure to bring sturdy footwear on this track. Hiking boots are highly recommended. If you get hungry along the way, there are places to rest and get food. Nevertheless it’s recommended to also have enough water and food in your backpack when hiking or biking.
Getting here
By car
Follow motorway A3, which is well connected to Loderbach from both directions. Federal roads 8 and 299 towards Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz will also get you to the starting point.
Public transportation
Take a train to Pölling, and walk the rest of the way. From Regensburg, you can take a train to Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, and walk the remaining 5km to Loderbach.
