With round about 10.000 kilometers of signposted trails, Austria offers a wide range of cycling paths. While the landscapes in the Burgenland and Lower Austria are rather flat, pleasant and enjoyable, mountain bikers and free riders will find plenty of fantastic trails at the higher altitudes of the country.

The most popular cycle path is the Danube river cycle path (Donauradweg). On its way to the Black Sea, the path leads through Austria past many highlights such as the Schlögener loops, the wild and romantic Wachau, the medieval town Enns or the Stift Melk monastery. Following the traces of the Austrian composer, the Mozart-cycle path takes cyclists through the Salzburger Land. Other tours with pleasure factor are the culinary tour of the vineyards in Styria, the Neusiedler Lake cycle path as well as the cycle paths along the river Drava, the Mühlviertel and the river Inn.

On a mountain bike, ambitious cyclists can push their own limits and conquer many of the peaks in the Austrian Alps. The area attracts with a broad palette of different trails and bike parks. Some of the hotspots are the valleys Paznaun in Tyrol, the Stubaital, Zillertal and the Ötztal valley. An adventurous challenge for well-advanced cyclists is also the three-day-tour around the Großvenediger mountain.
