Tourist Attractions in Austria

The alpine republic Austria impresses holiday makers with plenty of scenic highlights. More than 950 three-thousand meter high mountains create a breathtaking panorama. You can best enjoy this panorama from the Großglockner High Alpine Road. The mountain road connects the province of Salzburg with the province of Carinthia and is the highest affixed mountain pass in Austria.

Besides its picturesque landscapes, the Austrian cities are worth a visit, too. The capital Vienna, being the former residence town of the Habsburg family, has numerous historical buildings, of which some are declared UNESCO world heritage. Highlights of the city are the Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg castleas the former home of the Habsburg family, and the Prater adventure park. Also part of the world heritage is the historical center of Salzburg with its fortress Hohensalzburg. Worth seeing is also the city of Graz with the Schlossberg, a tree-clad hill with a fortress, as well as the city of Innsbruck with its late Gothic house Goldene Dachl and its marvelous alpine zoo.

Among the most popular sights in the country are also the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Tyrol. Visitors will be enticed by this sparkling wonder world.
