Description

Located directly at the top station of the Dachstein Glacier cable car, you'll find the Dachstein Sky Walk viewing platform, guaranteeing not only breathtaking views, but also a feeling of freedom at dizzying heights.
Location and Views
The Dachstein Sky Walk sits at an elevation of 2,700 meters above sea level, offering a stunning outlook over the world of the Alps. On particularly clear days, you can see all the way to the Hohe Tauern mountain range, Slovenia, and even the Czech Republic.
A special highlight is the glass platform, which gives you the feeling of hovering above the void. Beneath your feet, a sheer rock face drops vertically 250 meters straight down.
Further Highlights
Beyond the spectacular views, the Dachstein has plenty more exciting attractions to offer. A circular trail around the top station of the Dachstein Glacier cable car lets you take in the Dachstein south face and the surrounding Alpine peaks, with cozy beach chairs inviting you to sit back, soak up the sun, and unwind.
In addition to the circular trail, you should also check out the suspension bridge, the "Stairway to Nothingness," and the Ice Palace. The suspension bridge is Austria's highest suspension bridge and offers spectacular views with complete safety. The "Stairway to Nothingness" leads to a glass platform at a vertiginous height, providing truly awe-inspiring vistas. The Ice Palace is a mystical world of ice and snow deep within the Dachstein Glacier.
In winter, the glacier is also a snow-reliable destination for cross-country skiers, though downhill skiing is no longer possible there.
Historical Information
The Dachstein Sky Walk opened in August 2005 and has offered not only a spectacular experience but also the highest safety standards ever since. The steel structure supporting the platform is built to withstand extreme weather conditions, including wind speeds of up to 210 km/h and a snow load of up to eight meters.
The entire installation was completed in just four months of construction, making its realization all the more impressive.
