Description
The Styrian Bodensee is located at an altitude of 1,150 meters at the foot of the Hochwildstelle (2,747 meters) in the middle of the Schladminger Tauern. In 2012, the lake was voted the second most beautiful place in Styria. The lake can be easily reached by car via a toll road.
Enjoy freshly caught trout
The Forellenhof fish restaurant is located on the lake and, as the name suggests, serves freshly caught trout. Other places to stop for refreshments are the Seewigtal Stüberl at the Steirischer Bodensee parking lot and Hans-Wödl-Hütte at Hüttensee (1,528 meters).
Starting point for various hikes
For hikers, the Steirischer Bodensee is the starting point for many hikes of varying degrees of difficulty: from family hikes around the Bodensee to leisurely mountain tours (e.g. to the Hans-Wödl-Hütte at the Hüttensee) to alpine challenges (e.g. Hochwildstelle or Höchstein).
Please note: There are no bathing facilities on the Styrian Bodensee!
