Description & Details
World's largest water park
Although the West Edmonton Mall is, according to its name, more a place for extensive shopping tours, you can also experience a lot of adventures in the cool water here: World Waterpark is the largest indoor water park in the world and opened back in 1986. The facility can handle an attendance of up to 40,000 visitors. To add to its unique status, the waterpark also has the largest wave pool in the world, which holds 12.3 million liters.
A paradise of water slides
In addition to these impressive figures, the facility also has other highlights in store. The park has a total of 23 water slides, which can be used by the smallest beginners up to the most daring adults. For inexperienced (non-) swimmers, a slide such as the Carribean Cruiser is ideal, on which the little ones can also whiz down with their parents. At the end, a 1 m deep pool awaits them, which they reach at a moderate speed for children. There is also the Dolphin Kiddie Pool, teeming with water toys, where the fun knows no bounds.
From beginner to intrepid pro
However, if you're a little older and more advanced, slides like the Blue Bullet or Raging Rapids are recommended. Here you'll find your way through tunnels and sometimes plant-lined tubes and land in deep waters, so a minimum height of 1.20 m and the ability to swim are required. However, if this no longer poses a challenge for you, you can also take advantage of more challenging slides. One of the best known for such an adventure is the so-called Thunderbolt. On this slide you can glide down a relatively steep slide on water boards and thus increase your speed by a lot. For the ultimate thrill, don't miss the Sky Screamer Extreme, which really lives up to its name.
If you want to relax a bit after all these thrilling rides, you can also relax in one of the two whirlpools of the complex and find some variety.
Interesting facts
- The nearby parking lot offers enough space for your car.
- You are hungry and thirsty? A restaurant and a kiosk provide you with meals and drinks.
