Swimming Lake
Nestled in the gently rolling hills of the Sternberg Lake District, about ten kilometers southeast of Schwerin, lies Lake Pinnow – a quiet, forest-fringed body of water considered one of the most scenic lakes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Covering an area of around 2.6 square kilometers and reaching depths of up to 16 meters, the lake offers ample space for nature experiences and relaxation. A defining feature of the landscape is the wooded island of Flakenwerder, which gives the lake its unique character. The shores are partly steep and partly gently sloping – ideal for swimming. In the towns of Pinnow to the south and Godern to the northeast, public bathing areas with excellent, regularly tested water quality can be found.
Things to do
A roughly nine-kilometer trail circles Lake Pinnow, making it ideal for a scenic hike or bike ride. The route winds through quiet forests and open meadows, past untouched shoreline areas, and offers frequent open views across the water. Those looking to take a break along the way will find idyllic resting spots surrounded by nature.
The lake can also be enjoyed from the water – albeit in a peaceful setting. With a SUP or your own paddleboat, you can glide calmly across the surface, while anglers cast their lines from the quiet bays. Fishing is permitted with a valid license.
