Description
The treetop path in the small spa town of Orscholz in Saarland takes you high above the ground. Over a length of almost 1.3 kilometres, the path winds through the impressive mixed forest of beech, oak and Douglas fir trees at a height of up to 23 metres.
Observation tower
The highlight of the treetop walk is the large tree tower. It is built in a semicircle and is a proud 42 metres high. From the 70 m² platform, you have an impressive panoramic view of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and the Saarschleife, the landmark of the Saarland. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Vosges Mountains.
Interactive stations
Along the way, educational stations inform you about life in the forest and the different forms of life that can be found there. But there is also plenty of fun to be had. Adventure stations such as a slide or the Rialto Bridge with wobbling elements provide variety. In between, there are always rest areas where you can take a short break.
Treetop path for everyone
Both the trail and the observation tower are designed to be barrier-free. This means that the incline is a maximum of 6 % and can therefore also be managed by wheelchair users and prams. The rest areas have no gradient, so there are plenty of places to rest. Only dogs (and other animals) are not allowed on the treetop trail. The trail is open all year round.
Forest playground for the whole family
Since June 2020, there has been another attraction in the immediate vicinity of the treetop path - the Saarschleife Adventure Forest. The forest playground for young and old accommodates 20 exciting play and learning stations embedded in the forest and close to nature on an area of more than 7,000 m². Ample seating and picnic areas also ensure a relaxing day out with the whole family.
