Description
The Christmas market in Aachen first opens its doors during the last week of November. For one month, it provides a space full of atmosphere, where you can browse for presents, enjoy some mulled wine, and listen to festive concerts.
Familiar Atmosphere Against a Historic Backdrop
Despite its considerable size of around 130 booths, the formerly small „Printenmarkt“ has been able to maintain its familiar atmosphere. Framed by Aachen Cathedral and the historic city hall, Katschhof square turns into a glistening Christmas town.
Specialities from Aachen
Booths offering crafts, Christmas presents, and diverse treats can be found all over the city. If you visit the Christmas market in Aachen, don't miss out on the local speciality: Aachener Printen. Somewhat similar to gingerbread, they come in a variety of shapes and flavours. The recipe dates back hundreds of years.
How to get there
From Cologne, take A4 towards Aachen. At Kreuz Aachen, continue on A544 towards the centre. There are four P&R car parks (Westfriedhof, Waldfriedhof, Tivolo-Parkhaus, and Parkplatz Jülicher Straße/Berliner Ring). For €5 you get a parking ticket that also takes you and up to 4 other people to the city centre and back on public transport. Further car parks are located inside the centre (fees!), and can easily be located following the signs.
