Description
DINOLAND in the Historic Castle Grounds
If you're looking to step back in time while exploring the Innviertel region, Schloss Katzenberg is the place to be. DINOLAND transforms the historic castle grounds in Kirchdorf am Inn into a sprawling 40,000-square-meter prehistoric adventure, taking visitors on a journey through Earth's history more than 200 million years in the making.
Nearly 100 life-sized dinosaur models, skeletons, and fossils, all developed with scientific guidance, are scattered throughout the grounds, including fan favorites like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus. Several exhibits feature elaborate animatronics that move with striking realism, something that never fails to leave the little ones wide-eyed.
Beyond the prehistoric trail itself, there's no shortage of things to do. Kids can race around in dino-scooters at the Dinodrom, channel their inner archaeologist at the excavation camp by uncovering real fossils, or try their luck panning for treasure at the gold-washing station. Climbing frames, a maze, a flying fox, balance trails, and, come summer, an XXL slide that turns the park into a water playground round out the fun. A free drinking water fountain, a water play area, and a multimedia audio guide via smartphone add a few extra thoughtful touches.
Plan for at least three hours to take in the full loop. The park is wheelchair accessible, and dogs on leashes are welcome free of charge.
Historical Information

DINOLAND at Schloss Katzenberg first opened its gates as an outdoor seasonal attraction and has since become a permanent fixture of the castle grounds.
From its fifth season onward, the park found its lasting home on the estate, and in just a few short years, with several hundred thousand visitors to its name, it's grown into one of the most popular leisure destinations in the entire Innviertel region. The concept strikes a balance between hands-on fun and genuine educational value: every dinosaur model was crafted to scale under scientific supervision, and the experience keeps evolving, with new exhibits and attractions added every year.
