Description
Modelled after the famous French world expo construction, Tokyo Tower is to Tokyo what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. It is one of the Japanese capital's most famous landmarks. At approximately 320 metres, it boasts breathtaking views as well as a range of shops, restaurants, and other attractions.
Tokyo from above
Tokyo Tower has two different viewing platforms. The Main Deck is located at 150 metres. Here you will find the official shop, as well as Café La Tour. Enjoy the view with a cup of coffee and a range of sweet and savoury snacks. Another highlight is Skywalk Window. Separated from the abyss only by the glass floor, you should not have a fear of heights for this one! Furthermore, a Shinto shrine is located on Main Deck. Prayers for success in love and school are answered here. Hence, it is particularly popular with students and pupils about to take important exams.
Those who want more can venture 100 metres higher onto the Top Deck within a Top Deck Tour. The platform was recently restored, and has reopened in March 2018. Besides the view, you also get explanations, audioguides in 13 languages, drink service, and a photo-card gift.
Large Offer at Foot Town
Foot Town is a six-storey building at the foot of Tokyo Tower. It is home to a variety of shops and restaurants. From curry and crepes to burgers and pizza, there is everything your heart or stomach desires. Furthermore, Tokyo Tower Aquarium is located here. With approximately 50,000 fishes of 900 different species it is one of the world's largest aquariums. Fans of famous anime show One Piece will also find a multi-storey One Piece theme park.
