The WOW Museum in Zurich is a dynamic space that combines art, science and technology. Unique and immersive moments can be created here. Experience Zurich in a different way
If you want to discover Zurich in a completely new way, you shouldn't miss the WOW City Rally. This is a walk through the city. It is garnished with various challenges and optical illusions. The ‘City Rally Guide’ allows you to discover new perspectives of the city on your smartphone. There are a total of five different tours. These vary in length and also in the time available.
Understanding optical illusions
The museum can also be experienced as a guided group tour. Two different guided tours are offered. One is the ‘WOW-Intro Tour’. This is ideal for those who first want to get an overview of the wide range of exhibits and then go exploring themselves. You can also learn a few tips and tricks for your visit. The ‘Insight Tour’ explains optical illusions and the aspects behind them. This gives you knowledge of them. It is also possible to book events for birthday, company, school and private groups. These must be arranged individually.
Historical Information
After travelling the world, Vanessa and Matthias Kammermann came up with the idea of opening a museum dedicated to optical illusions. They wanted to create a place that combines learning, fun, culture and immersive learning. Five years passed between the idea and the opening. The museum opened its doors on 10th June 2020. The first WOW City Rally took place in 2022. This now offers five tours through Zurich. Since then, it has cemented itself as a creative centre with more than 200,000 visitors and several awards.
How to get there
By car
The Urania car park is a three-minute walk from the museum away.
By public transport
Zurich main station is a five-minute walk away. The tram station ‘Bahnhofstrasse’ can be reached with lines 6, 7, 11, 13 and 17. From there it is a 2-minute walk to the museum.
