Swimming Lake
The Styrian Sea, as the Grundlsee is also known, is the largest lake in Styria, covering an area of 5 square kilometers. Located at the foot of the Totes Gebirge mountain range, it not only offers drinking-water-quality water but also a magnificent Alpine panorama.
Along the shore, you’ll find a 14-kilometer-long natural swimming beach that is freely accessible, with the exception of a few private beaches. There is also a nudist section, located near the Murbodenhüttl inn. Dogs are not allowed at the official swimming areas.
Things to do
Grundlsee isn't just a great place to swim—you can also go sailing, surfing, or boating here. The regular ferry service runs from the Seehotel Grundlsee to the Pavillon, to Gößl, and back.
