Route description
You'll start the tour at the guesthouse Fichtenhof at the info-board leading towards the Weinebene (4.5 hrs – hiking path no. 505). After passing the Stoffhütte, which is only open during the winter, keep on the path for about 5 km (3.1 miles) until you reach the upland moor See-Eben. From here follow the Lavantaler Höhenweg for about 1.5 hours (hiking path no. 551) via the Renneiskogel, the Wildbachsattel up to the Weberkogel. Subsequently, the way leads you to the Handalpe and further downhill towards the final destination of this leg, the Weinebene.

- You shouldn’t forget to bring your hiking boots. There are some sections on the trail where sturdy footwear is required. There are places to buy beverages and food along the track. However it’s always recommended to bring enough water and food along with you.
Highlights of the tour
The Handalpe is known for its strikingly shaped rocks called Felsöfen. Along the path you'll discover many of them.

By car:
Take the A2 Südautobahn (motorway), exit at Packsattel/ Hebalm and then turn right. Keep following the signs towards Hebalm/ Preitenegg for about 8 km (5 miles).
Alternatively, take the Packer Bundestraße B70 in Wolfsberg via Twimberg to Preitenegg.
