Alpine tobogganing with views of the Upland Mountains
Your ride begins with a tow lift that takes you comfortably to the top of the slope. Once released, you'll set off on a 700-metre descent featuring 11 bends, three jumps and several longer straight sections. You control your own speed using the hand brake, making the run suitable for both a relaxed ride and a faster-paced descent. Along the way, you'll enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding Upland Mountains. At the finish, an automatic speed camera can capture your ride with an optional souvenir photo.

The summer toboggan run is part of the Ritzhagen Adventure Mountain, which offers a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. In addition to the toboggan run, you can race downhill on MountainCarts, specially designed three-wheeled carts built for mountain descents. Families will also find a summer tubing run, two wooden marble runs, and a playground with a trampoline, making the area an ideal destination even if tobogganing isn't the only activity on your agenda.
Food and refreshments
Right next to the summer toboggan run is the Einkehrschwung Mountain Hut, where you can enjoy a selection of food and drinks. Outdoor seating overlooks the track, making it an ideal place to relax and watch the action while taking a break.
Historical Information
From ski slope to summer attraction
The summer toboggan run opened on Ritzhagen Mountain in 1997. The 250-metre tow lift that now carries riders uphill was originally built for skiers during the winter season. As the ski area's lift system expanded, the tow lift was retained and repurposed for the summer toboggan run. Today, the slope serves as a ski area in winter and a popular outdoor recreation destination during the warmer months.
How to get there
The summer toboggan run is located on Ritzhagen Mountain in Willingen and is easy to reach by car, with clear signposting and parking available directly at the site.
If you're travelling by train, Willingen railway station is about one kilometre away and can easily be reached on foot.
Thanks to its location within the hiking and recreation area surrounding Ettelsberg, the summer toboggan run can also be combined with a hike or a cycling tour through the region.
