Valencia is a city located directly on the Mediterranean Sea in the very east of Spain. With a population of 800,000 within the city and 1.8 million in the greater city area Valencia is the third largest city of “the land of the setting sun".
With the drainage of the Túria, the river that used to stream through Valencia, a leisure and cultural park of more than 100 hectares in size was formed. The “City of Arts and Sciences” lies within the former riverbed , the new cultural center of Valencia. Nowadays the Túria river is being redirected around the city with a newly constructed river bed.
