Swimming Lake
Nature of the water
The bathing lake in Klaffer originally had a completely different function, because it was actually used by Stift Schlägl to breed fish. On a total of 40,000 m² and a depth of six metres, the lake no longer invites you to go fishing, because you can have a good time here in summer. An inflow from the Bohemian Forest provides the lake with fresh water again and again. Nevertheless, it is partly very brownish in colour, which is due to the high concentration of humic and mineral substances that enter the lake with the watercourse. However, this is in no way bad for health or in any other way harmful to the body. Rather, it has the positive effect that there are several temperature layers under the water surface, so that the water at the bottom is refreshingly cool and gets warmer and warmer towards the top. Many of the visitors also report that water has a very positive effect on the skin, making it "soft and supple".
Attached camping site
There is also a camping site directly at the lake itself. The Billinger family takes care of both the visitors to the campsite and to the lake, so that you always have a contact person here, whether for information about camping or for your stay on the sunbathing lawn. So you can feel completely cared for and, if necessary, simply relax on the large sun terrace. There are also small snacks, drinks and cool ice cream, but also bigger meals like pizza, grilled food, chicken or a so-called "knight's meal". As the campsite is directly connected to the beach, there is also a common room and a guest room for 30 people in the bathing buffet, which is the central building of the campsite. Here you will also find toilets, showers, washing machines and even dryers.
Things to do
Something for everyone
In addition to a jump from the jetty directly into the cold water, you can also do other activities here. On the beach volleyball court you can shoot a few balls over the net or do a few laps in the skater park. The playground is equipped with things like a Tarzan swing arm, a climbing house and some swings, so that even children can enjoy a change of pace.
In winter there is a skating rink and even curling rinks.
