Route description
The tour starts at the north side of the bus station in the fishermen's village Corralejo. Follow a not tarred road until you reach Charco de Bristol, a basin built to support precious plant species against floods. The most outstanding species are the so called Sapillo, Matomoro and especially Salado de Marisma, occurrences only found in Fuerteventura and the neighbouring island Lobos. You will find these all along the trail.
After a short ascent you will get to a desalination plant, which is supplied with wind energy from two large wind turbines. Up there you will be able to see Lanzarote, which is seperated from Fuerteventura through the strait Bocaina and to the right you will have a view onto the island Lobos, which is seperated from Fuerteventura through the estuary El Rio.
Continue following the trail alongside the rocky coast. You will get to lake Litoral, where there is an apposition of small bays, save from the strong surge whipping against the north part of the island.
The bike trial eventually will lead you to the northernmost point of the island, namely Punta Gorda. Approximately half a mile further you reach Playa de la Burra with a beautiful wooden hut surrounded by clear sand mixing up with the darkness of the rock.
Now bike further down the trail until you reach a stonewall standing across the road, continue towards the bay Bajo Mejillon. Various species of plants have adapted to the salty environment and live along the rocky shore.
On your left side three mountains will emerge: La Mancha, La Raya and Lomo Blanco.
After about half a mile you will be able to see Caleta del Barco, a small beach with a single house on it. A short ascent and you will get to Llano del Dinero, after about 1,5 miles you will eventually reach Majanicho the last destination of the tour.
