The snow sculpture competition "Forms in White" once again transformed the Ischgl ski resort into an impressive snow gallery in January. Guests have the opportunity to marvel eleven ice sculptures created by international artists and up to ten meters high on the theme of "Future, Future-Mobility, Climate" in the Silvretta Arena. In addition, the snow artworks can also be purchased in the form of crypto-art for the first time from February 2023.
Gold for "Back to the roots aka Fred Flintstone"
From January 8th to 13rd, teams of artists from all over the world transformed the Silvretta Arena Ischgl into an impressive open-air gallery. The creative motto interpretations and artistic implementation didn't make it easy for the judges to make a decision.
After careful consideration, the following verdict was reached: Ivan Holzknecht and Armin Rifesser from Italy were able to secure first place with their sculpture "Back to the roots alias Fred Feuerstein". Silver went to "E Unterwegs" by Ivo Piazza and Reiner Kasslatter from Italy. Third place went to Ralf Rosa and Peter Fechtig from Germany with their "Palmboarder: 2050 - Palms on the Mountain and Surfing the Net". This year, the winners won't only be rewarded with the victory, but also with the "immortalization" of their works as crypto-art.

The concept behind the competition
The snow sculpture project has been thrilling guests in the Ischgl ski resort for almost 30 years. Since then, international sculptors have sent their designs to the Ischgl jury every year. The annually changing motto is announced in advance. Before the competition, a jury selects the most promising participants and invites ten pairs of artists to the Silvretta Arena for implementation.
The snow artists have five days to create their sculptures out of snow, which can be up to ten meters high. As a visitor, you can watch the works of art being created. Due to locations directly on the slopes and an altitude of mostly over 2,000 meters, winter sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to visit the snow sculptures until spring. A map with explanations and locations is available free of charge on site. The event will again take place in January in 2024.
