Description
The Erotic Museum Barcelona is situated inside an old house on Rambla, one of the most famous historic streets of the city, right across the street from famous Boqueria market. From the outside, you will recognise the museum by its red, white and black posters and the 69 logo (rather fittingly, the museum is located inside number 69...). Or you might see Marylin Monroe wave down from the balcony. She offers guided tours through the museum as well.
The Erotic Museum concentrates on the historic and cultural influence of eroticism, from the beginnings of human history until the present day. A special focus lies on erotic elements of the city of Barcelona throughout the years.
The museum features a total of over 800 exhibits in 14 rooms, including paintings, sculptures, and inventions. Topics range from early civilisations, Kama Sutra, and King Alfonso XIII's private video collection to fetish and SM. The exhibition reaches its "climax" at the room of records - but we don't want to spoil that surprise for you ;-)
Historical Information
Erotic Museum Barcelona is the only one of its kind in Spain. It was opened in 1997. Only parts of its exhibits are currently at display, the rest of them is stored in archives.
