Historical Information
The Nebra Sky Disc was discovered by looters in 1999. However, it was only in the year 2002 that it was seized in Basel. Even back then, it became evident that many people were fascinated by the mysterious bronze disc. As a result, in 2003, a coordination group at the state level and a regional working group were established to develop the discovery site for tourism. In October 2005, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the "Arche Nebra" took place, and finally, in June 2007, it was opened to the public.
